About Pigeon

Created by Leah & Jenifer, Pigeon candles started with a simple idea: to develop a clean-burning, great-smelling candle built on the foundation of operating in an eco-conscious manner. Inspired by the English Carrier Pigeon, the two friends designed a one-of-kind candle, incorporating space for a thoughtful message on a gift that can be delivered to friends and family.

What does Pigeon mean?

Named after the English Carrier Pigeon, Pigeon candles aims to deliver personalized messages to the people that matter most to you. “Messenger pigeons” date back thousands of years, when they were first used throughout Europe to deliver important news and messages. Due to their prestige, messenger pigeons were only available to those with wealth. Following the French Revolution, messenger pigeons became more accessible, and the demand for their services grew. For many centuries, people relied on messenger pigeons for communication with loved ones. After the invention of the radio took off in the early 1900s, the need for carrier pigeons dwindled. Although English Carrier Pigeons remain very prestigious to this day, their services have changed and they are now used solely as racing birds. Today, Pigeon candles offers a similar, modern take on the messenger pigeon, delivering personalized notes on a candle vessel to family and friends.
